Camp format will be a day camp.  Campers will be fed lunch during the two all day sessions.

Events covered will be Shot put , Discus, Hammer, Weight, and Javelin

Coaches may change.  This is the list of who we expect.  We expect to add coaches to this list.

Dr. Larry Judge  Larry is considered one of the top throws coaches in all of the world.  He has coached numerous Olympians in the throwing events.  Larry is also the chairman for the throws for USATF Coaches Education program.

Mike Judge:  Founder and club director Throw 1deep Club.  Mike has coached over 125 high school all-Americans in the throwing events in the last 15 years.  He is considered an expert in the field of the strength and power events.  He is a USATF level 2 coaches education instructor, and has his IAAF Level 5 Throws Coach certification. He is also the USATF Coaches Education Throws Chair.

Dave Schenek: Head Track and Field coach of Barton Community College, the 2010 NJCAA Indoor National Championship Team.  He has coached 19 National Champions and 95 NJCAA All-Americans. Many of his athletes competed at the USATF National Championships, the South American Championships, and the Ibero-American Championships.  He coached the Chilean National Record holder in the discus.  He has his USATF Level 2 in Throws and Jumps.

Erin Gilreath: Throws Coach at Indiana State University where three of her throwers earned All-American status and 7 earned All-Conference honors in her first year. As a thrower, she was a 2004 US Olympian, American Record Holder hammer throw, former World Record holder in the 20lb weight throw, 2003 NCAA Champion Weight throw, and the first female over 80 feet in the weight throw. She also is 3-time USA Indoor Champion, 2-time USA Outdoor Champion, 2005 & 2009 USA World Team member, and 2006 USA World Cup Team member. Former student-athlete at the University of Florida.

Ronda Gullatte Broome: Assistant Coach of Throw1deep Club. SEC runner up in the discus 2006 and NCAA qualifier.  2008 USA Olympics Trial qualifier. USATF level 2 certified coach. Coached many high school all-Americans in various events. Former student-athlete at Auburn University. She has her USATF Level 2 certified coach and USATF Level 2 coaches education instructor.

Dr Dave Bellar: Assistant Professor and Director of the Human Performance Laboratory at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he also serves as an Assistant Coach working with the throwers on the Track and Field team.  Dr. Bellar is also certified with distinction as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association where he is also included in the Registry of Strength Coaches.  Dr. Bellar's research interests include performance in the throwing events.

Chris Rogers: Assistant Coach of Throw1deep Club. Coach Chris is a USATF Level 2 certified throws coach and has been coaching for 12 years. Coached multiple masters and high school All Americans. He also has coached 1 elementary school state champs and 2 AAU JO national champs. Father of current state shot put record holder Isaiah Rogers.

Larry Satchwell: Throws Coach at Parkview High School. Coach Satchwell is a USATF Level 2 certified throws coach and completed his IAAF Level 5 Throws Coach certification.

Several former throw 1 deep alumni will also be helping


Instructional Program

                The  Throws Camp is an intensive instructional camp designed to provide the best possible throwing instruction for all athletes, male and female, ages 13-18.  Emphasis is place upon improving each individual’s skills and knowledge of throwing.This camp is open to any and all entrants, limited only by age, number or gender of participants.

                The goal of the Throws Camp is to give each camper an enjoyable experience by mixing fun with technical development.  Camp sessions are designed to improve the fundamental skills required of throwing.

               Special instructional exercises will be demonstrated to enhance proper technical development tailored for different age and ability levels.

                Each camper will receive specific, quality instruction on how to improve his/her throwing.  Campers will be placed into groups of similar ability.  Competitions will take place during some sessions.




Lunch will be provided June 29th and June 30th


Registration and Check-in Procedures


Check-in will begin at 12:00 p.m., and end at 1:00 p.m. on June 28th. Camp ends at 12:30 on July 1st.

                A $195 deposit will be required with a camp application to reserve a space in the camp. This camp will be limited to the first 60 spaces. The balance is due at check in.

                Withdrawal from camp less than two weeks before the beginning of the session will result in forfeiture of the $195 deposit.
